How do I pack to travel light?

“These no-checked-bag folks have me perplexed. Like, what do you do?”

I spent 2 months traveling around Mexico (from the Yucatan to Baja and points in between) with only carry-on bags. ✈️ Traveling light means you’re more nimble once you land at your destination. Watch the video below to see how I pack during my travels.👇🏾

TEAM CARRY-ON TIPS

  • Bring clothes in a compatible color story. For this trip, I wore shades of blue + white + black.
  • Packing cubes for organization: tops in one; shorts & pants in another; undies & socks in another
  • Wear your bulkiest clothes, jacket, and shoes on the plane.
  • I don’t buy souvenirs; if I can’t eat it this week, I don’t buy it.
  • Limit the items that you bring “just in case” – if there’s something you might need and you can buy it where you’re going, don’t bring it with you.
  • But DO bring “just in case” medicine + first aid items, like activated charcoal (which I never travel without).
  • In places like Iceland, you can rent heavy-duty cold-weather gear. Same with snorkeling gear in hot places.
  • If you’re bringing gifts to people, put the gifts in one of those big blue IKEA duffel bags or an old suitcase, and leave it there!
  • If you can’t resist buying things while you travel, you can upgrade your return flight (if needed) so you can check a bag.
